Description
Testimonials are one of the most effective things a freelance freelance consultant can have, and one of the things most people are worst at collecting. The work gets done, the client is happy, and nobody asks. This template gives you the emails to send, at the right moment, in a way that makes it easy for the client to say yes.
How to use this
Send the testimonial request email within a week of project completion, while the work is fresh and the relationship is warm. The email is short and specific: it tells the client what you’d like them to comment on and roughly how long a response you’re looking for.
The follow-up template is for if you don’t hear back within two weeks. It’s brief, not pushy, and assumes the client simply forgot rather than decided not to.
The LinkedIn recommendation template asks for a recommendation on LinkedIn specifically, with a note on what to include. LinkedIn recommendations are worth having separately from general testimonials because they’re publicly visible and attached to your professional profile.
The referral ask template is for asking a happy client to recommend you to someone in their network. It’s a different ask from a testimonial and handled best as a separate conversation.
What’s included
- Editable Word document (.docx) with four email templates
- PDF reference version
Who it’s for
Freelance freelance consultants who want to build a bank of testimonials and a referral network without it feeling like a sales exercise.
Before you download
- The timing matters. Asking for a testimonial while the project is recent produces much better results than asking six months later.
- After downloading, you will find both files in your account.
- You are getting a licence to use this and adapt it for your own work. You cannot sell, redistribute, or share it with others.
