Description
A freelance proposal is not a sales document. It’s a record of your shared understanding of the work, what you’ve heard, what you’re proposing to do about it, and what it will cost. A good proposal makes it easy for a client to say yes. A vague one creates doubt.
How to use this
Complete the ‘Your understanding of the brief’ section first. This shows the client you have listened and understood the problem, before you start talking about solutions. If you can’t write this section clearly, you probably need another conversation before you write the proposal.
The approach section explains what you will do and why. Keep it concise. Clients do not need to know everything; they need to know enough to feel confident in your judgement.
The fee and payment terms section is where most freelancers are too vague. State a clear figure, a payment schedule, and what happens if the scope changes. Ambiguity here causes problems later.
