How to clear the Twitter Card cache to show the right image

"Twitter

Have you ever tried to share a news story from your site to Twitter and realised there is no picture being pulled through to the Twitter Card?

Twitter might have added the wrong image or you might have forgot to add an image and added after publication. Or perhaps the headline has changed and the Twitter preview shows an earlier version.

(A Twitter Card is the rich content that is automatically attached to tweets).

Here is how to clear the Twitter Card cache to make sure the right image pulls through

1. Make sure the first image (or the featured image) is the one you want to show in the Twitter Card

2. Head to the Twitter Card Validator: https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator (You’ll need a Twitter account and be logged in on Twitter to use this tool)

3. Enter the article or blog post url that you want to tweet

4. You will see a preview of the Twitter Card, which should now show the correct image

There’s a similar tool for Facebook here, called the Facebook Debugger: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

That’s all you need to know to clear the Twitter Card cache and show the right image, so you’ll never show an outdated image again.
