That’s according to a new survey by\u00a0FreshBooks, the online accounting software for freelancers, that found that millennials don\u2019t just work because they have to\u2014they need to find meaning in their work.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span>Are you a millennial?<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/h2>\nBeing a millennial means you were born between 1981-1996, making you anywhere from 22 – 37 years old. It\u2019s a pretty big age range, but there are some amazing stats about this demographic.<\/span><\/p>\n For example, 56% of millennials work more than 40 hours a week.<\/span><\/p>\nAre millennials really the laziest generation? They don\u2019t seem to think so.<\/p>\n
In fact,\u00a066% of millennials identify as workaholics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nTo get a better understanding of millennials modern work habits, FreshBooks compiled\u00a0the Millennial Workaholics Index, which polled a representative sample of 1,000 American freelancers.<\/span><\/p>\nHere\u2019s what they discovered:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span>56% of Millennials Work More Than 40 Hours a Week<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\nThey\u2019re 8% more likely to work 40+ hours than those above 45! <\/span><\/p>\n1 in 5 millennials say they work over 60 hours in a typical week\u2014and 70% say they\u2019ve worked on the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span>32% of Millennials Have Worked in the Bathroom<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\nThat\u2019s the percentage who say they\u2019ve invoiced a customer while \u2026 multitasking. <\/span><\/p>\nAnother 27% have invoiced a customer on a date, proving millennials are constantly on the grind even when they\u2019re not in the office.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span>39% of Millennials Work Overtime Because They Love Their Jobs<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\nWhile 50% say they work more because they need the money, a solid 2 in 5 are passionate about their work.<\/span><\/p>\nThis proves millennials don\u2019t just work because they have to\u2014they need to find meaning in their work.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/span>The Weirdest Times Millennials Work<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\nAs freelancers, we know that the working day can stretch – but the different between the working day and the weekend is increasingly becoming blurred millennial freelancers:<\/p>\n

- On their birthdays (63%)<\/span><\/li>\n
- Over the holiday break (51%)<\/span><\/li>\n
- On New Year\u2019s Eve or Day (48%)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
