Tools comparison and cost tracker

$0.00

A spreadsheet to map every tool in your freelance setup, what it costs, and whether it’s worth keeping.

Description

A spreadsheet to list every tool you pay for, what each costs, and whether you are getting value from it. Useful once or twice a year, not as a permanent dashboard.

What’s included

  • CSV template file (opens in Google Sheets or Excel)
  • Tools inventory by category (admin, project management, communication, design, finance)
  • Monthly cost column with annual total calculation
  • Value assessment column with keep, trial, or cancel recommendation

Who it’s for

Useful if you have accumulated tools gradually and are not sure what you are spending on software each month. Most freelancers are surprised by the total when they add it up. Not useful if you already review your tools regularly and your costs are under control.

If it works

If you fill it in completely, including annual subscriptions converted to monthly equivalents, you will have a clear picture of your software spend and a list of things to cancel or downgrade before the next renewal. For most people, the useful output is the cancellation list, not the tracker itself.

This will not tell you which tools are worth paying for in general. That depends on how you work. It will tell you which ones you are paying for but not actually using, which is a different and more answerable question.

Before you download

  • This is a CSV file. Open it in Google Sheets or Excel. It will not work as a document or a PDF.
  • After downloading, you will find the file in your account under My Downloads.
  • You are getting a licence to use and adapt this for your own work. You cannot sell, redistribute, or share it with others.
