Description
A 25-step checklist for managing a project problem from first acknowledgement through to resolution and follow-up. It is designed for use in the moment, not as advance reading.
What’s included
- CSV template file (opens in Google Sheets or Excel)
- 25-step checklist from initial acknowledgement through to resolution and follow-up
- Client communication scripts for what to say and what not to say
- A post-crisis debrief template
Who it’s for
Useful if you manage projects with multiple stakeholders and want to be prepared for things going wrong, or if you are currently dealing with a situation that has gone wrong and need a structure for managing it. Not useful for communications crises that require a public response, this is an internal project management tool, not a crisis communications framework.
If it works
In a crisis, the checklist exists to stop you skipping steps when you are under pressure. The immediate response section is the most critical and the most often mishandled. Acknowledging the problem quickly and clearly, without over-promising on resolution, is usually the right first move.
A checklist does not prevent project problems. It helps you handle them more systematically when they happen. Most projects have at least one moment that requires this kind of management.
