Communications audit template

$0.00

A structured framework for gathering, organising, and presenting communications audit findings to a new client.

Description

A framework for structuring and presenting a communications audit to a client. It covers what to look at, how to organise findings, and how to present recommendations.

What’s included

  • CSV template file (opens in Google Sheets or Excel)
  • Five-area audit framework: messaging, channels, audiences, content quality, and operational capacity
  • Finding summary and recommendation template
  • A client presentation structure for the audit output

Who it’s for

Useful if you are asked to do communications audits as part of strategy engagements and want a consistent structure. Not useful if your client wants something bespoke that does not fit a standard framework, or if the audit is primarily quantitative and requires specific analytics access you do not have.

If it works

If you use the framework consistently, you will conduct audits more efficiently and present findings in a format that clients find easier to act on. The five-area structure is broad enough to work across different types of organisations without being so generic it says nothing useful.

The quality of an audit depends on the quality of the access and information you are given. A framework cannot compensate for a client who withholds relevant context.

Before you download

  • This is a CSV file. Open it in Google Sheets or Excel. It will not work as a document or a PDF.
  • After downloading, you will find the file in your account under My Downloads.
  • You are getting a licence to use and adapt this for your own work. You cannot sell, redistribute, or share it with others.
